CHRISTMAS TREE

Children are sleeping and I have about 1,5 hour to pick up my first yamadori of this season and enjoy my first christmas gift :). This tree is 5 years old Ulmus procera, which I started as a cutting. It was planted in a pot for two years, second year was tree shaped by wire. Then it was planted into the field and here you can see the final result after 5 years of development. I started today at 12:00 and now after 2 hours, tree is in pot and I can show you the first photos :).

Děti spí a já mám chvilku na výkop svého prvního "yamadori" a můžu si tak užít svůj první vánoční dáreček. Tento jilm je 5 let starý řízkovanec. První 2 roky byl v nádobě, druhý rok jsem jilm natvaroval drátem. Na další 3 léta jsem jej dal růst do volné půdy a níže můžete vidět výsledek pětileté práce. Celá akce i s příspěvkem zabrala 2 hodinky :).

BIG EL

Another Elm, called Big El. Tree was for the first time defoliated and styled. It was waiting about 3 years for the first touch, but now I am looking forward to the progression of this beauty. Next year I will repot it, maybe change the position in a pot, as it was originally growing in a very steep slope. 

Další Jilm, který Vám chci představit se jmenuje Big El. Letos jsem strom poprvé defolioval a udělal základní tvarování. Na první zásah čekal strom 3 roky od svého výkopu. Už nyní se však těším na další vývoj. Příští rok dojde k přesazení do nové misky, pravděpodobně i ke změne úhlu nasazení, původně strom rostl v příkrém svahu.

ELMS - LITTLE FELLAS

To be honest, I have a lot of trees in my garden, so you can find some treasures just waiting somewhere in the corner. That is exactly case of these two little elms - Ulmus procera - english elm. 
I know that these trees has a great potential to be a high quality trees in the future, but 3 or maybe 4 years, they are just growing without any attention. Ulmus procera is a great kind for a bonsai, they are able to reduce the size of leafs very well, so they are proper also for a shohin size tree. 

Vzhledem k počtu stromů na mé zahradě, se často stává, že kvalitní materiál leží nekdě v rohu pár let bez povšimnutí. To je přesně případ těchto dvou malých jilmů - Ulmus procera. I přes jejich kvality jsem s nimi nepracoval 3, možná i 4 roky a jen tak si rostly. Ulmus procera je velice vhodný druh pro bonsaje a vzhledem ke schopnosti výrazně změnšit velikost listů se hodí i na velikost shohin.
