JAPAN 2015 - #06 BONSAI CENTER AT TOCHIGI, FESTIVAL AT KUMAGAYA

Where were we yesterday? Oh, yes...I wanted to show you a couple of pictures from the bonsai center itself first. Note, this is not a bonsai nursery at its purest sense (Kimura, Kobayashi etc.), it´s just a specialized and general-public orientated regional gardening/bonsai center.

Kde že jsme to včera skončili? No jasně, nejdříve ještě fotky ze zajímavého bonsai centra v Tochigi... Mějte na paměti, že se nejedná o "bonsajovou zahradu" (Kimury, Kobayashido atd.) v pravém slova smyslu, ale jde "jen" o specializované a na širší veřejnost orientované regionální zahradní a bonsajové centrum.

I guess that almost one half of the bonsai trees were satsuki azalea varieties - no wonder after what we had seen at the exhibition...

Hádám, že dobrá polovina bonsají byly kultivary satsuki azalek a není se čemu divit poté, co jsme viděli na místní výstavě...

 But there were also some nice specimens of pines...

Ale také jsme mohli spatřit hezké kusy borovic...

 ..and BIG pines / ... a VELKÝCH borovic :-)

 This was really interesting - a kind of "arboretum" where there planted hundreds of different varieties of satsuki, ONE tree per ONE variety. As Takachi told us, the trees were donated by growers from whole region. I definitely MUST go here in the flowering season...

Prošli jsme branou a ocitli jsme se v azalkovém "miniarboretu", kde rostly stovky různých kultivarů azalek, JEDEN strom na JEDEN kultivar. Jak nám Takachi řekl, stromy sem byly darovány od pěstitelů z celého regionu. Tak si říkám, že se tady ještě určitě musím zajet podívat v době kvetení...

 As there were so nice azaleas everywhere, I could not resist buying me at least few of them! 

Jelikož bylo všude kolem tolik parádních azalek, nemohl jsem odolat a několik z nich jsem si prostě musel pořídit :-)

Zahradní bonsaje a zahradní technika - dva z našich hlavnách zájmů bok po boku

 Today we´ve visited another garden bonsai place (report will follow in next days) and in the afternoon we spend some time at the Kumagaya city festival.

Dnes jsme navštívili další zahradnictví se zahradními bonajemi (reportáž někdy v příštích dnech) a odpoledne jsme pak nějaký čas strávili na slavnostech města Kumagaya.

 The children of Takashi competed at some kind of children athletic contest, so we had to come to take a look, but at the time we arrived it had been all over yet and even their team did not win...

Takashiho děti se účastnily dětského atletického klání, ale když jsem dorazili, už bylo po všem, a i když jejich družstvo nevyhrálo...

 ...they were all happy anyway. / ...panovala veselá nálada.

 The population of Kumagaya is more than 200 000 people, therefore the attention has been quite numerous. Let´s have a look at a japanese festival then!

Město Kumagaya má více než 200 000 obyvatel, na slavnostech tedy bylo dost plno. Pojďme se teď podívat na dění na japonském jarmarku!

Also a vendor whom I could not resist buying me one table as a souvenir :-).

A tady tomuto stánku jsem opět nemohl odolat a zpátky jsem si nesl jeden stolek na památku :-).

JAPAN 2015 - #05 SATSUKI EXHIBITION AT TOCHIGI

Today we´ve gone to the Tochigi prefecture to see a bonsai center recomended by a local professional garden bonsai grower and the trip was well worth indeed! Tochigi prefecture is very famous for growing satsuki azalea and enkianthus, so we had kind of expected that we would see a lot of satsuki, but once we got to the center we were lucky enough to coincide with a satsuki azalea exhibition Taishou-ten held directly at the place. Despite the fact that it was the regional exhibition the level of presented trees was quite incomparable with european or at least middle-european regional exhibitions. Almost 100% trees on the photos, besides several small shimpaku, were varieties of satsuki.

Dnes jsme se vydali do prefektury Tochigi, abychom navštívili bonsajové centrum doporučené místním pěstitelem bonsají a cesta opravdu stála za to! Prefektura Tochigi je známá jako jedno z center pěstování azalek satsuki a enkianthů, takže jsme očekávali, že uvidíme velké množství azalek, když jsme však po několikahodinové cestě dorazili na místo, zjistili jsme, že zde právě probíhá výstava Taishou - ten plně věnovaná bonsajím z azalek. I když se jednalo o regionální výstavu, úroveň prezentovaných stromů byla samozřejmě naprosto nesrovnatelná s většinou evropských, či středoevropských regionálních výstav. Skoro 100% bonsají (až na několik malých shimpaku) na fotkách jsou tedy satsuki azalky.

 Entrance to the venue - the lightning was very poor, therefore I needed to use camera flash. / Výstava z dálky - světlo fotografování příliš nepřálo, proto jsem byl nucen fotit s bleskem.

 Also a lot of trees in various stages of progression and nice pots for sale / Řada stromů v různých stupních vývoje byla na prodej, stejně tak se dalo vybírat z množství misek.

My personal exhibition´s favourite (traces of naturalistic style can be noticed:-) )   / Tato azalka byla úchvatná (snad i pro svůj lehký naturalismus :-))

Today´s curiosity - bamboo back-basket  - we had to try and buy one, it might be useful for mushrooms picking, we´ll see..

A dnešní kuriozita - bambusová nůše, neodolali jsme a museli jsme ji vyzkoušet a následně si ji i s sebou odnést, snad přijde vhod, až půjdeme na hřiby :-).
